No other K-9 Kraving Dog Food products are affected. \u00a0The FDA website has not published a photo of the recalled product nor has it included a UPC. \u00a0The Safe Pet Treats team reached out to the manufacturer for this information and are now waiting for\u00a0a response.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE<\/strong> \u2013 October 2, 2015 \u2013 Baltimore, MD \u2013 K-9 Kraving Dog Food has announced a voluntary recall of their Chicken Patties Dog Food shipped between July 13th &#8211; July 17th, 2015 because these products may be contaminated with <em>Salmonella<\/em> and <em>Listeria monocytogenes<\/em>. <em>Salmonella<\/em> and <em>Listeria monocytogenes<\/em> can affect animals eating the products and there is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products.<\/p>\n<p>Healthy people infected with <em>Salmonella<\/em> and <em>Listeria monocytogenes<\/em> should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Rarely, <em>Salmonella <\/em>and<em>Listeria monocytogenes<\/em> can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare providers.<\/p>\n<p>Pets with <em>Salmonella<\/em> infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian.<\/p>\n<p>The affected product was distributed to retail stores only in Maryland. No other K-9 Kraving Dog Food products are affected.<\/p>\n<p>No illnesses have been reported to date. Even though no illnesses have been reported, consumers should follow the Safe Handling Instructions printed on the K-9 Kraving Dog Food package when disposing of the affected product.<\/p>\n<p>K-9 Kraving Dog Food became aware of a potential issue after receiving notification from the FDA that a routine surveillance sample of Chicken Patties tested positive for <em>Salmonella<\/em> and <em>Listeria monocytogenes.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Consumers feeding the affected product should discontinue use and monitor their pet&#8217;s health, and contact their veterinarian if they have concerns.
