The following is a description of what is being recalled due to possible Salmonella<\/em> contamination:
\nOnly the Freeze-Dried Beef Nibblets Entree for Dogs with Lot #13753.<\/p>\n

\"Vital<\/p>\n

The following is the official press release from the company:<\/p>\n

Carnivore Meat Company of Green Bay, WI, is voluntarily recalling a limited amount, 73 cases,
\nof \u201cVital Essentials Freeze-Dried Beef Nibblets Entr\u00e9e for Dogs\u201d pet food because the products
\nhave the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The recall includes only the product
\nlisted below.<\/p>\n

The following affected \u201cVital Essentials Freeze-Dried Beef Nibblets Entr\u00e9e for Dogs\u201d product
\nwas distributed in the continental USA through independent retailers and via online retailers
\nChewys.com and Amazon.com through direct delivery:<\/p>\n

Affected products can be identified by comparing the following lot numbers: \u201cVital Essentials
\nFreeze-Dried Beef Nibblets Entr\u00e9e for Dogs\u201d with \u201cLot #13753\u201d.<\/p>\n

\"Vital<\/p>\n

No products other than the specific product identified above are subject to this voluntary recall.<\/p>\n

Salmonella can affect animals eating the products and there is risk to humans from handling
\ncontaminated pet products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after
\nhaving contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products.<\/p>\n

Healthy people infected with Salmonella should monitor themselves for some or all of the
\nfollowing symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and
\nfever. Rarely, Salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections,
\nendocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. Consumers
\nexhibiting these signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare
\nproviders.<\/p>\n

Pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever,
\nand vomiting. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Infected
\nbut otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans. If your pet has
\nconsumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian.<\/p>\n

The recall is being issued in an abundance of caution following the Michigan Department of
\nAgriculture\u2019s collection of a retail sample from a single batch which tested positive. There have
\nbeen no reports of illness.<\/p>\n

Consumers who have purchased Vital Essentials Freeze-Dried Beef Nibblets Entr\u00e9e for Dogs in a
\n1 lb. bag are urged to return effected product to the place of purchase for a refund. Consumers
