The recall is only for the 5-pound bags of Hi-Pro Plus with\u00a0Lot Code 1000016385<\/strong>\u00a0and Best By Date 4\/30\/2024.<\/strong>\u00a0 No other products are included with this recall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This voluntary recall is being issued due to a single sample of Victor Super Premium Dog Food that tested positive for\u00a0Salmonella<\/em>\u00a0in a random sample test conducted by the South Carolina Department of Agriculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This recall has been added to the\u00a0Safe Pet Treats app<\/a>.\u00a0 Available on iTunes and Google Play.<\/p>\n\n\n

Mid America Pet Food, Mount Pleasant, Texas,<\/strong>\u00a0is voluntarily recalling one lot of Victor Super Premium Dog Food, Hi-Pro Plus produced at its Mount Pleasant, Texas production facility because it has the potential to be contaminated with\u00a0Salmonella<\/em>.\u00a0Salmonella<\/em>\u00a0can affect animals eating the products and there is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Healthy people infected with Salmonella<\/em> should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Rarely, Salmonella<\/em> can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare providers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pets with Salmonella<\/em> infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The affected product was only sold in 5-pound bags. No human or pet illnesses have been reported to date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Products were distributed to various distributors and retailers in the United States. The affected product consists of 644 cases sold in 5-pound bags with lot code 1000016385<\/strong> with Best By Date 4\/30\/2024.<\/strong> Lot code information is found on the back of the bag. Images of product are below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No other products are included in this recall.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This voluntary recall is being issued due to a single sample of Victor Super Premium Dog Food that tested positive for Salmonella<\/em> in a random sample test conducted by the South Carolina Department of Agriculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Retailers and distributors should immediately pull the recalled lot from their inventory and shelves. Do not sell or donate the recalled products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do not feed the recalled product to pets or any other animals. Destroy the food in a way that children, pets and wildlife cannot access. Wash and sanitize pet food bowls, cups and storage containers. Always ensure you wash and sanitize your hands after handling recalled food or any utensils that come in contact with recalled food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
