Original Post January 24, 2026: Raaw Energy Dog Food – FDA advisory<\/strong>
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is cautioning pet owners that eight samples of Raaw Energy dog food have tested positive for one or more types of pathogenic (harmful) bacteria, specifically: Listeria monocytogenes (L. monocytogenes), Salmonella, and Campylobacter jejuni. One sample also contained Escherichia coli (E. coli) O157 bacteria, which may be harmful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The products are packaged in either 2-pound or 5-pound clear plastic tubes sealed on each end with a metal clip. Products are sold frozen in brown cardboard boxes containing 10 clear plastic tubes.
Because Raaw Energy products aren\u2019t labeled with UPC or lot codes, different batches of product are distinguishable by a date code (date of manufacture) printed on white stickers on both the individual plastic tubes and the brown cardboard box.

The advisory is for the following products: Safe Pet Treats app screenshot<\/p>\n\n\n\n Expanded Recall May 2026: From the FDA website<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Raaw Energy is voluntarily notifying the public of a recall involving products produced between 7\/17\/25 and 12\/23\/25 due to possible Listeria<\/em> contamination. Another batch date is 3.31.26 Beef and Turkey Medley. While not all products from this period tested positive, this action is being taken out of an abundance of caution. Some products produced during this timeframe were not tested, and bacterial presence was identified during the same period. As a result, products manufactured within these dates could possibly be affected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Consumers are advised not to use, sell, or consume any affected product. Please discard these items immediately to help reduce the risk of illness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tested foods: Highlighted below. * Bold print production dates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Listeria monocytogenes<\/em> can be exposed to the pathogen through consumption of contaminated food. People can be exposed to this pathogen through multiple routes such as contact with surfaces that have touched contaminated food, such as bowls, utensils, or countertops. Risk of human illness from Listeria monocytogenes<\/em> contaminated pet food increases if people do not thoroughly wash their hands after handling the food or having contact with their pet, or by not thoroughly cleaning contaminated surfaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Infected humans may display symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, fever, and lethargy. Severe infections can result in meningitis, abortion, and death. Pets exposed to contaminated food can be infected without showing symptoms. Infected pets, even if they do not show symptoms, can act as carriers and transfer Listeria monocytogenes<\/em> through their feces and saliva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n People infected with Listeria monocytogenes<\/em> may experience some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, aches, fever and diarrhea. Severe Listeria monocytogenes<\/em> infections can spread through the bloodstream to the nervous system (including the brain), resulting in meningitis and other potentially fatal illnesses. Pregnant women are especially susceptible to Listeria<\/em> infection, which can result in miscarriage. The young, the elderly, and people with weak immune systems are also vulnerable to infection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Food is ordered via the firm\u2019s website and picked up in person by customers. Products were distributed to customers in CT, DE, MA, MD, NH, NJ, NY, PA, and VA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The products are packaged in either 2-pound or 5-pound clear plastic tubes sealed on each end with a metal clip. Products are sold frozen in brown cardboard boxes containing 5 to 20 clear plastic tubes. The cardboard boxes have white stick-on labels identifying the product flavor, ingredients, and date code. See product list below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Based on testing conducted on samples collected by New Jersey Department of Agriculture, some finished products tested positive and tested negative to contain Listeria monocytogenes<\/em>. Not all the food was tested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For your safety, please treat these products as potentially contaminated. We ask that you dispose of them in a secure manner so they cannot be accessed by people or animals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
