\n<\/strong>June 19, 2015 \u2014 Boulder, CO \u2014 Boulder Dog Food Company, L.L.C. is voluntarily recalling the Chicken Sprinkles (3 oz.) with a \u201cBest By\u201d date of \u201c05\/04\/16\u201d, a Lot Number of \u201c998\u201d, and a UPC Code of 899883001231 (the \u201cProduct\u201d), because the Product has the potential of being contaminated with Salmonella<\/em>.\u00a0 Salmonella <\/em>can affect animals eating the Product, and there is risk to humans who handle the Product, especially if the handler does not thoroughly wash his or her hands after having contact with the Product or any surfaces exposed to the Product.<\/p>\n

Healthy people handling a product contaminated by Salmonella <\/em>should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping, and fever. \u00a0Although rare, Salmonella <\/em>may result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. \u00a0Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with the Product should contact their healthcare providers immediately.<\/p>\n

Pets with Salmonella <\/em>infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. \u00a0Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. \u00a0Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans. \u00a0If your pet has consumed the Product and has exhibited these symptoms, you should contact your veterinarian immediately.<\/p>\n

This voluntary recall is limited to Chicken Sprinkles (3 oz.) with a \u201cBest By\u201d date of \u201c05\/04\/16\u201d, Lot # \u201c998\u201d and a UPC Code of 899883001231. The Product is in a clear poly bag. The UPC Code is located in the lower right hand corner of the product label on the front of the bag. \u00a0The \u201cBest By\u201d date and Lot Number are on a label on the reverse side of the bag.<\/p>\n

The recalled Product consists of 10 bags of Chicken Sprinkles (3 oz.) that were distributed to two retail stores in the State of Colorado, one retail store in the State of Washington, and one retail customer in the State of Maryland. \u00a0Boulder Dog Food Company, L.L.C. has retrieved 8 of the 10 bags of the recalled Product, and believes that the remaining two bags of the Product have been used or destroyed. \u00a0If you are in possession of the recalled Product (\u201cBest By\u201d date of \u201c05\/04\/16\u201d, a Lot #\u201d998\u201d and a UPC Code of 899883001231) please discontinue use and return the unused Product to either the retailer where it was purchased or directly to Boulder Dog Food Company L.L.C.<\/p>\n

The recall is a result of a routine sampling program by the Colorado Department of Agriculture which revealed a \u201cpositive\u201d test for Salmonella <\/em>in one package of Chicken Sprinkles (3 oz.) with a \u201cBest By\u201d date of \u201c05\/04\/16\u201d, a Lot Number of \u201c998\u201d, and\u00a0 a UPC Code of 899883001231.<\/p>\n

One complaint was received from a consumer who had contact with the Product.<\/p>\n

Consumers with questions may contact Boulder Dog Food Company, L.L.C. at 303-449-2540 Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM (M.D.T.)<\/p>\n
